Which mortgage lenders accept a DMP? Specialist lenders including Pepper Money, Bluestone Mortgages, Vida Homeloans, Kensington and Together Money will consider applicants on a Debt Management Plan. High street lenders rarely will while the plan is active. What matters most is how long the DMP has been running and whether payments have been maintained without a single miss — deposit requirements typically run 25–30% under 12 months, 15–25% at 12–24 months, and 10–15% beyond two years.
Yes, but the lender pool is narrower. Specialist lenders assess DMPs individually rather than declining automatically. They want to see a clean payment record on the plan itself — a single missed or unarranged payment since entering the DMP is usually the thing that causes a decline, more so than the DMP existing at all.
| DMP Status | Deposit Needed | Lender Landscape |
|---|---|---|
| Active, under 12 months | 25%–30% | Very limited, highly specialist pool |
| Active, 12–24 months | 15%–25% | Specialist adverse lenders |
| Active, 2+ years | 10%–15% | Broader specialist panel |
| Completed / cleared | 5%–10% | Near-prime and mainstream lenders |
Some lenders require the plan settled on or before completion; others will let it continue running. This varies significantly between lenders and is one of the specific criteria points Darryl checks before recommending where to apply. Applying to a lender that requires settlement when you cannot settle wastes a hard search.
Completed DMPs open up considerably more options, including near-prime and some mainstream lenders. The defaults that led to the DMP usually remain on your file for six years from registration, so those dates matter more than the DMP completion date itself.

A County Court Judgment does not have to stop you getting a mortgage. Darryl Dhoffer is the UK's award-winning CCJ mortgage specialist — he knows exactly which lenders will consider your situation and at what rates.
Being declined feels personal. It isn't — banks use computers. Darryl uses judgement.
Banks and high street lenders often decline automatically when they see a CCJ. Specialist lenders don't. They look at the full picture — how old the CCJ is, the amount, whether it's satisfied, and the rest of your financial profile.
Darryl Dhoffer has arranged mortgages for clients with CCJs ranging from very recent to several years old, satisfied and unsatisfied, large and small. He knows exactly which of his 65+ lenders will consider each scenario and how to present your case to maximise your chances of approval at the best available rate.
The first step is a free, no-obligation assessment where Darryl reviews your full situation and gives you an honest picture of what's possible — before any application is made and before anything touches your credit file.
