Can you get a mortgage with a satisfied (paid) CCJ in the UK? How lenders view it, how long it stays on your file, depos
Quick answer — Can I get a mortgage with a satisfied CCJ? Often yes. A satisfied CCJ is one you have paid in full, and many more lenders will consider it than an unpaid one. Some of the UK's biggest lenders may look at a paid CCJ about a year after it was registered, and specialist lenders look at it sooner. The amount, how recent it is and your credit since all matter, so check criteria with a UK-wide specialist broker before you apply.

| CCJ status | Satisfied (paid in full) |
| Typical concern | Age of the CCJ and the amount |
| Stays on file | Up to 6 years from the judgment date, marked satisfied |
| Overall view | Paid is much better than unpaid. Lender choice widens with time and clean credit since. |
A county court judgment (CCJ) is satisfied once the debt has been paid in full. If you pay within one month of the judgment, the CCJ can be cancelled and removed from the register. If you pay after that, it stays on your credit file for up to six years from the date of the judgment, but is marked as satisfied. You can ask the court for a certificate of satisfaction (a fee applies), which some lenders like to see. See mortgages with a CCJ and how long a CCJ affects a mortgage.
Research from Newspage, sponsored by TMG on 15 October, found that six of the UK's ten largest lenders (TSB, Barclays, HSBC, Virgin Money, Coventry and Accord) may consider a paid CCJ one year after registration, while Halifax, Nationwide, NatWest and Santander do not. Criteria change, so treat this as a guide and confirm before you apply. Specialist lenders such as Kensington, Pepper Money and Bluestone assess the whole case, and some will look at a satisfied CCJ sooner. See lenders that accept CCJs.
